The book was unabridged on 46 CDs, but is missing the Fact and Fiction chapter- I'll have to check it out from the library. It was annoying to wonder what he fit into the cracks of history and what was counterfactual, or what was something real but slightly fictionalized.
It took me from August to now- 4 months of listening while driving, it could have gone faster but at many times I was listening to the radio instead.
The book was good, I'd like to read or listen to some other books by the author but the length is intimidating- I'll probably wait at least a year before attempting it. I'm not sure I liked how certain characters and family lines would pop up again in different historical sections- it seemed contrived, but is probably a standard device of his and others writing this sort of epic historical fiction.
